Learning Among the Pines is a space created for homeschool families who want learning to feel meaningful, connected, and rooted in real life. Here, we believe education doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming to be effective.
I’m Jennifer, a homeschool mom of four, teaching multiple ages together at home. Our days are shaped by books, conversations, curiosity, and time spent outdoors. While we use structured curriculum where it serves us, much of our learning happens through family-style unit studies, hands-on projects, and observing the natural world right outside our door.
I started Learning Among the Pines to share what’s working for us — not a picture-perfect version of homeschooling, but a real one. One that includes nature walks, backyard discoveries, seasonal rhythms, and learning side by side across ages.
Our homeschool is: Family-style, so siblings can learn together. Nature-rooted, using the outdoors as a natural classroom. Hands-on, with room for curiosity and creativity. Simple and flexible, designed for real homeschool days. I believe children learn best when they feel connected to their family, their environment, and the material in front of them. Some of our best lessons don’t come from a worksheet, but from slowing down and paying attention.
At Learning Among the Pines, you’ll find: Family-style unit study ideas, Nature-based learning and backyard science. Seasonal homeschool inspiration. Simple, thoughtful printables created for real homeschool families. Everything shared here is created with the intention of supporting homeschool parents teaching multiple ages — without burnout or pressure to “do it all.”
Whether you’re new to homeschooling, teaching several children at once, or simply looking for a calmer rhythm, I hope this space feels encouraging and doable. You’re always welcome here. Thank you for stopping by and learning among the pines with us.
